World ( The cow news digital ) Saudi Arabia’s meteorological authorities have issued a heat warning for the Hajj season, forecasting extreme temperatures in Makkah as millions of pilgrims gather for the annual pilgrimage.

According to the Saudi National Center for Meteorology, temperatures in Makkah are expected to reach up to 47°C by May 25, raising concerns about heat-related risks for pilgrims performing religious rituals in open areas.

The forecast also predicts that temperatures in Madinah could rise to around 44°C during the same period, adding to the challenging weather conditions across key holy sites.

Authorities further warned that humidity levels may reach up to 40 percent, while dusty winds are also likely in open regions. In addition, there is a possibility of thunderstorms and rainfall in mountainous areas including Jazan, Asir, Al-Bahah, and parts of Makkah’s highlands.

The Saudi Press Agency reported that officials have urged pilgrims to strictly follow safety guidelines, avoid dehydration, and consume sufficient water throughout the day to reduce the risk of heat exhaustion. Health and safety advisories have also been issued to ensure the well-being of pilgrims during peak Hajj rituals.

According to official figures, more than 1.518 million international pilgrims had arrived in Saudi Arabia by Friday afternoon, with over 1.457 million arriving via air routes.

On the first Friday of Dhul-Hijjah, thousands of worshippers gathered at Masjid al-Haram to perform Friday prayers in Makkah, marking a spiritually significant moment ahead of the Hajj rituals.

The most important ritual of Hajj, the Day of Arafah (Wuquf-e-Arafat), is scheduled to take place on May 26, when pilgrims will gather on the plains of Arafat for prayers and supplication.

Authorities continue to emphasize health precautions, crowd management, and emergency preparedness to ensure the safety of pilgrims during one of the world’s largest annual religious gatherings.
