World ( The cow news digital ) The United Kingdom has acknowledged and praised Pakistan’s constructive diplomatic role in facilitating understanding between Iran and the United States, highlighting the country’s growing contribution to regional peace and stability. The appreciation was expressed during a meeting held in Islamabad between Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and UK Minister for the Middle East, Hamish Falconer.
During the meeting, both sides discussed bilateral relations between Pakistan and the United Kingdom, the evolving regional security landscape, and avenues to strengthen cooperation in multiple sectors. The discussions also focused on enhancing collaboration in counter-terrorism efforts, managing illegal migration, improving institutional coordination, and expanding training programs for law enforcement agencies.
The British minister reportedly commended Pakistan’s leadership, stating that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir played a significant role in promoting dialogue and supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions between Iran and the United States. He described these efforts as an important contribution to peace-building initiatives in the region, adding that Pakistan’s role has helped reinforce its image as a responsible stakeholder in global stability.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, while outlining Pakistan’s position, emphasized that the country is actively pursuing strict and non-discriminatory measures against illegal immigration and human trafficking. Naqvi further highlighted regional security concerns, noting that multiple militant groups continue to operate from Afghan territory. He stressed that it is the responsibility of the Afghan authorities to ensure that their soil is not used against neighboring countries, particularly Pakistan. According to him, sustainable regional peace depends on coordinated action against terrorism and stronger border security mechanisms.
Both sides also agreed to work jointly on addressing issues related to fraudulent student visa applications, with a focus on improving verification systems and reducing misuse of immigration pathways.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from both countries, including government representatives and diplomatic staff such as Jean Marriott. The discussions concluded with a mutual commitment to further deepen Pakistan-UK cooperation across security, migration, and institutional development frameworks.
