According to local authorities, heavy rains triggered flash floods in Tehsil Bholakhan, inundating homes, roads, and agricultural lands.
Residents report that power and gas supplies have been suspended since last night, worsening the crisis for thousands of people. Household items, food supplies, and livestock have been washed away by fast-moving water currents, forcing many families to flee their homes and seek shelter in safer areas.
Transportation has been severely affected as roads remain submerged, cutting off multiple villages from nearby towns. District administration teams and volunteers are working to assist stranded residents, but continuous water inflow is slowing down rescue operations.
Meanwhile, in Naushahro Feroze, a major tragedy was averted after five people stranded in a capsized boat near Kamal Dero were rescued by local emergency teams. Authorities confirmed all passengers were brought to safety after hours of struggle against strong river currents.
The situation remains tense in the flood-prone katcha areas along the Larkana-Sehwan bund, where floodwaters continue to rise, inundating more villages and displacing scores of families. Local communities have begun evacuating livestock and essential belongings as water encroaches further inland.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a high-alert warning, predicting a high-level flood at Guddu Barrage between September 14 and 15. Relevant departments have been directed to take urgent preventive measures and prepare for large-scale evacuations if needed.
Authorities have already shifted more than 13,000 people from the katcha belt to safer urban areas in anticipation of rising water levels at Sukkur Barrage, where officials expect high flood levels within the next few days. At Kotri Barrage, a low-level flood continues, keeping authorities on standby for any escalation.
Officials are urging residents in vulnerable areas to cooperate with rescue teams, relocate to designated camps, and avoid unnecessary movement near overflowing streams and riverbanks to prevent casualties. Relief efforts, including the provision of food, clean water, and medical assistance, are being mobilized to support displaced families.
