World ( The cow news digital ) The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan has rejected requests for re-polling in two constituencies of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly, reaffirming earlier election outcomes and moving forward with the completion of remaining procedural results.
According to the Chief Election Commissioner of Gilgit-Baltistan, Raja Shahbaz, petitions seeking re-polling in GBA-13 Astore-I and GBA-16 Diamer-II were thoroughly reviewed before being dismissed. The decision maintains the previously declared result in GBA-13 Astore-I, where Rana Farman Ali of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had secured victory.
Officials further stated that in GBA-16 Diamer-II, the final result will be issued after the completion of postal ballot counting, which is currently in progress. The election authority emphasized that the process is being finalized in accordance with electoral procedures to ensure transparency and accuracy in vote tabulation.
In addition to the tribunal decisions, the Election Commission has also announced final official results for three constituencies in the Diamer region of the Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly. According to the Returning Officer, independent candidate Muhammad Dilpazeer won GBA-15 Diamer-I with 5,962 votes.
From GBA-17 Diamer-III, Muhammad Naseem of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) secured victory with 8,954 votes, while in GBA-18 Diamer-IV, Malik Kifayat-ur-Rehman of PML-N emerged successful with 6,081 votes.
Election officials confirmed that all results were compiled after a detailed counting process and scrutiny of votes. They added that the electoral process in the region is being completed in line with legal and procedural requirements, ensuring fairness and transparency in the final outcomes.
The developments come as part of the ongoing post-election procedures in Gilgit-Baltistan, where final results and pending disputes are being systematically resolved by the relevant authorities.
