Peshawar (The COW News Digital) The new 13-member provincial cabinet of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has officially been formed following approval from Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, marking a significant step in the province’s evolving political landscape.

According to an official notification, the governor approved the summary submitted by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, finalizing the long-awaited cabinet lineup. The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled to take place at 3:00 PM today at the Governor House in Peshawar.

The newly appointed cabinet comprises 10 ministers, 2 advisers, and 1 special assistant. Among those appointed are several key political figures with diverse backgrounds, reflecting both administrative experience and regional representation.

According to government sources, Muzzammil Aslam and Taj Muhammad Tarand have been designated as advisers to the Chief Minister, while Shafiullah Jan will serve as Special Assistant.

Other prominent members of the cabinet include Mina Khan, Fazal Shakoor, Faisal Tarakai, Aqibullah Khan, Arshad Ayub Khan, Khaleeq ur Rehman, and Dr. Amjad — each expected to take charge of crucial portfolios that will be announced during or shortly after the oath ceremony.

In addition, Riaz Khan from Buner and Fakhar Jahan have also been included in the new cabinet lineup, signaling efforts by the provincial leadership to maintain a balance of representation from different districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Political analysts view this development as a move by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi to consolidate his government by bringing together loyal party members and technocrats who can help drive key governance and development initiatives in the province.

Sources close to the provincial administration said that the newly formed cabinet will focus on addressing pressing issues such as economic revitalization, security coordination, education reforms, and energy sector improvements — all part of Afridi’s broader governance agenda.

The formation of the cabinet comes after weeks of consultations and political deliberations within the ruling coalition, which aimed to finalize a team capable of ensuring administrative efficiency and policy continuity across departments.

Observers expect the Chief Minister to soon allocate portfolios, with particular emphasis on finance, home affairs, and local government — departments critical to maintaining stability and governance performance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
