Islamabad (The COW News Digital) A deadly suicide bombing outside the G-11 courthouse in Islamabad on Monday claimed the lives of 12 people and injured 27 others, officials said. The attack, reportedly carried out by a militant linked to Afghan Taliban proxies and supported by foreign elements, has sparked heightened security across the capital.

According to initial reports, the bomber attempted to enter the courthouse but was stopped by police. He then detonated explosives near a police vehicle outside the premises, killing several civilians and injuring three law enforcement officers. Forensic teams have collected evidence from the site, and the bomber’s head was reportedly found at the scene, confirming the suicide nature of the attack.

Rescue 1122 and local ambulances rushed the wounded to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), where an emergency was immediately declared. Authorities confirmed that four of the injured are in critical condition. Police reinforced security at the hospital to manage the influx of casualties.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who visited the scene, condemned the attack and warned of strict action against perpetrators. “We have provided evidence to Afghanistan regarding militants being trained there and then carrying out attacks here. If these extremist elements are not stopped, we will take measures ourselves,” Naqvi stated.

He added that the bomber had planned to enter the courthouse, but failing to do so, targeted the police vehicle instead. The identification of the attacker is the first priority of the ongoing investigation. The minister also drew parallels with the previous day’s vehicle-borne suicide attack in Wana, where Afghan-linked militants were reportedly involved.

Prime Minister has directed immediate medical attention for the injured, and security agencies are actively tracing any accomplices and networks associated with the attack. “We have a clear understanding of activities in Afghanistan, but security in Pakistan remains uncompromised. Those responsible for this heinous act will be brought to justice,” Naqvi added.

The Islamabad administration has heightened alert levels at sensitive locations nationwide, including courts, government buildings, and entry points, to prevent further attacks. Investigations are ongoing, and authorities have vowed to ensure accountability for the tragic incident.
