Doha,(The COW News Digital) Qatar has called on the United States to immediately halt violations of the Gaza ceasefire by Israel, emphasizing the urgent need to protect civilians and uphold international agreements. The appeal was made following a high-level meeting between Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani and U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington during the seventh U.S.-Qatar Strategic Dialogue.
The Qatari Prime Minister warned that Israel’s repeated daily violations of the ceasefire are not only weakening the current agreement but also endangering the entire peace process. He stressed that continued delays and breaches are creating serious challenges for mediators working to maintain stability in the region.
Sheikh Mohammed called for the immediate initiation of the next phase of the ceasefire, highlighting the need for humanitarian assistance to reach Gaza unconditionally. He urged that no further delays be allowed in implementing the subsequent stage of the ceasefire, emphasizing that the situation on the ground requires urgent international attention.
According to monitoring by Al Jazeera, since the ceasefire went into effect on October 10, Israel has reportedly violated the agreement at least 738 times, resulting in the deaths of 394 Palestinians and injuries to over a thousand others. The persistent breaches have intensified humanitarian concerns and raised international calls for accountability.
During the Washington discussions, the central focus was on pressuring Israel to comply with the ceasefire and prevent further violations. Qatari officials stressed the importance of international engagement to ensure that Gaza receives continuous humanitarian support and that the peace process is not further undermined.
Observers note that Qatar’s intervention highlights its growing diplomatic role in the Middle East, especially in mediating conflicts between Israel and Palestinian authorities. Analysts also suggest that the U.S. influence is crucial in enforcing ceasefire agreements and ensuring that both parties adhere to international norms.
The meeting underscored Qatar’s commitment to safeguarding human rights in Gaza and maintaining momentum toward a sustainable and enforceable ceasefire. Sheikh Mohammed concluded that international partners must act decisively to prevent escalation and support the implementation of the next phase of the ceasefire without delay.
