Washington(The COW News Digital)The White House has announced that all revenue generated from Venezuela’s oil sales will be deposited into American accounts, reinforcing Washington’s strict enforcement of sanctions and control over Venezuela-related energy transactions.
The statement was made by White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt during a press briefing following the seizure of a Russian oil tanker that had allegedly attempted to evade the naval blockade linked to Venezuela. Addressing questions about the operation in the Atlantic Ocean, Leavitt said the United States remains fully committed to enforcing all sanctions and confirmed that the crew of the seized vessel will now face legal proceedings.
Leavitt stated that proceeds from Venezuela’s oil exports will not be directly accessible to Caracas and will instead be held in US-controlled accounts. She said this measure is intended to ensure transparency and compliance with US policy while preventing sanctioned actors from benefiting financially.

During the briefing, the White House spokesperson also commented on broader foreign policy issues. She said all options remain on the table regarding Greenland, although diplomacy would always be the preferred first approach. On Venezuela, Leavitt noted that the Trump administration is in close contact with the country’s interim authorities, adding that key decisions by the interim leadership are being made in coordination with Washington.
According to Leavitt, the United States is actively working with Venezuela and the American oil industry on agreements governing oil production and sales. She also revealed that executives from major oil companies are expected to visit the White House later this week to discuss operational and security matters.
The spokesperson added that President Donald Trump retains the authority to deploy US military forces if necessary to protect American oil workers involved in operations related to Venezuela. However, she described any discussion about Venezuela’s electoral timeline as premature, indicating that political processes are not currently the focus of US engagement.
The developments follow the recent seizure of a Russian-flagged oil tanker by the US Navy and Coast Guard. According to international news agencies, the vessel had been under surveillance for a long period and had previously evaded interception attempts.
Russia has strongly criticized the US action, calling the seizure an act of maritime piracy. Russian officials argue that the tanker was operating in international waters and that the move violated international maritime law. Moscow has demanded assurances regarding the safety of the crew and their safe return.
The incident highlights escalating tensions over sanctions enforcement, energy security, and geopolitical rivalry, particularly involving the United States, Russia, and Venezuela. Analysts say the decision to channel Venezuela’s oil revenue through US accounts marks a significant step in tightening Washington’s control over the country’s energy sector.
