Saudi Arabia Rejects Any Move Undermining Somalia’s Sovereignty

Riyadh(The COW News Digital) Saudi Arabia has firmly rejected any attempt to undermine the sovereignty, unity, or territorial integrity of Somalia, reiterating its clear stance in support of the African nation’s stability and independence.

According to international media reports, the Saudi Cabinet expressed its position during a meeting held in Riyadh under the chairmanship of King Salman bin Abdulaziz. The session reviewed regional developments and key international issues, with particular focus on the situation in Somalia.

Saudi Minister of Information Salman Al-Dossary, briefing the Saudi Press Agency after the meeting, said the Cabinet welcomed and endorsed the outcomes of the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which was held in Jeddah to discuss Somalia. The Cabinet categorically rejected any effort to establish parallel entities or arrangements that could harm Somalia’s unity, national sovereignty, or territorial integrity.

The Saudi leadership emphasized that such actions pose a serious threat to regional stability and contradict international principles respecting the sovereignty of states. Riyadh reaffirmed its support for Somalia’s legitimate government and its right to safeguard national unity without external interference.

During the meeting, the Cabinet also reviewed Saudi Arabia’s ongoing high-level consultations and diplomatic engagements with various countries. These discussions covered regional security, political developments, and coordinated efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in conflict-affected areas.

The Cabinet reiterated the Kingdom’s unwavering support for a ceasefire in Gaza, stressing the importance of protecting civilians and ensuring uninterrupted humanitarian assistance. Saudi Arabia once again called on the international community to intensify efforts to achieve lasting peace in the region.

In addition, the Cabinet praised the successful conclusion of the joint military exercise “Gulf Shield 2026,” hosted by Saudi Arabia, highlighting its role in strengthening defense cooperation and regional security among participating countries.

The meeting also reviewed several major economic and investment-related events hosted by the Kingdom, including high-level forums such as the Saudi-Japanese Ministerial Investment Forum and the Saudi-Canadian Business and Investment Forum. These initiatives were described as key steps in expanding international partnerships and promoting economic growth.

Furthermore, the Cabinet approved a draft memorandum of understanding on political consultations between Saudi Arabia and Canada. It also endorsed several other agreements and memoranda of understanding with different countries, reflecting the Kingdom’s continued engagement in diplomatic, economic, and strategic cooperation at the global level.
