National ( The cow news digital ) The Government of Pakistan has strongly rejected recent reports circulating in Afghan media regarding alleged military strikes in Afghanistan’s Kunar province, terming them “fake news” and part of a coordinated disinformation campaign.
In an official statement, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting dismissed claims of so-called “phantom strikes” as baseless and misleading. The ministry said that such reports being circulated by Afghan media outlets and certain officials have no factual basis and are designed to create unnecessary tensions in the region.
The statement further alleged that the narrative is being amplified with the support of external elements, which it did not directly name, but suggested were involved in spreading propaganda against Pakistan. Authorities emphasized that these claims are part of a broader misinformation effort aimed at distorting facts and influencing public perception.
According to the ministry’s fact-checking unit, the government of Afghanistan has increasingly relied on false narratives and hostile rhetoric due to its inability to effectively address governance challenges and public welfare issues within its territory. It added that accusations against Pakistan are “baseless and absurd” and do not reflect ground realities.
Pakistan reiterated that any action it undertakes against militant or terrorist infrastructure is conducted in a responsible, transparent manner and based on concrete intelligence. Officials stressed that such operations are not concealed and are always backed by verifiable evidence when required.
The statement also referred to Pakistan’s ongoing counter-terrorism framework, under which it reserves the right to take necessary measures against threats to its national security. Authorities said these actions are carried out in accordance with established protocols and communicated through official channels.
The ministry warned that the spread of unverified reports and propaganda can significantly escalate tensions in an already sensitive regional environment. It urged all stakeholders, including media organizations, to exercise restraint and verify information before dissemination.

Diplomatic observers note that such exchanges of statements between the two neighboring countries reflect ongoing mistrust over security-related issues along the border regions. However, Islamabad has consistently maintained that it seeks regional stability and constructive engagement, provided that misinformation and hostile narratives are avoided.
The government concluded its statement by calling for responsible journalism and reaffirming its commitment to responding to security threats with transparency and accountability.
