National ( The cow news digital ) Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi has stated that the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan, is being held in jail without justification and has alleged that he is being denied access to both his legal team and family members.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the “Senator of Excellence” initiative, Afridi said that the PTI founder’s eyesight has reportedly deteriorated by nearly 85 percent during his detention. He, however, emphasized that while an individual may be confined, an ideology cannot be imprisoned.
Afridi asserted that the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is committed to translating the vision associated with the PTI leadership into practical governance reforms. He said that the government’s primary focus remains on public welfare spending and improving service delivery across the province.
Highlighting youth-focused initiatives, the chief minister noted that several programs are underway to equip young people with vocational and technical skills. According to him, these steps are aimed at creating sustainable employment opportunities and reducing dependency on traditional job markets.
He further added that outdated academic curricula are being phased out from educational institutions across the province. The reforms, he said, are intended to align education with modern requirements and market demands.
Afridi also reiterated the government’s stance on governance and accountability, claiming that there is no space for corruption in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He instructed officials to strictly avoid favoritism and to reject any external pressure or recommendations, even from within the system itself.
The chief minister emphasized that institutional transparency and merit-based decision-making are central pillars of the provincial administration’s policy framework. He maintained that strengthening public trust in government institutions remains a top priority.
His remarks come amid ongoing political tensions surrounding the detention of Imran Khan and continued debates over legal proceedings, governance, and political rights in Pakistan.
The statement has further intensified political discourse, particularly in relation to the treatment of opposition leaders and the broader implications for democratic norms in the country.
