National ( The cow news digital ) A high-profile extortionist and his father were killed during a joint raid by the Counter-Crime Department (CCD) in Haripur, leading to the successful rescue of a kidnapped woman held for a 50-million-rupee ransom in Attock.
Acting on intelligence regarding the presence of the wanted criminal, Zargam, CCD personnel launched a targeted operation at his hideout. Upon the arrival of law enforcement officers, Zargam and his accomplices opened heavy fire using automatic weapons, triggering an intense two-and-a-half-hour gun battle that required armored vehicles to reinforce security personnel.
During the exchange of fire, Zargam and his father, Inamullah—who actively resisted law enforcement officers—were both killed. Police officials confirmed that the suspect attempted to use his family members as human shields during the operation; however, CCD officers managed to safely evacuate all family members without injury to law enforcement personnel. Other accomplices fled the scene, prompting a pursuit operation across the region.
Zargam was a notorious criminal facing dozens of charges, including murder, attempted murder, kidnapping for ransom, extortion, drug trafficking, and child abuse.
Following information obtained from the suspect’s family during preliminary investigations, CCD teams raided Zargam’s second home located in Attock city. Officers successfully rescued a 28-year-old woman identified as Misal Zameer. She had been abducted on July 14, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of 50 million rupees from her family for her safe release.
