World ( The cow news digital ) North Korea has firmly ruled out any possibility of rejoining the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), reiterating that its nuclear weapons program remains central to national defense and non-negotiable under international pressure.
The statement was delivered through North Korea’s state media during ongoing discussions surrounding the global nuclear non-proliferation framework. Pyongyang said it no longer considers itself bound by any obligations or conditions linked to the treaty, from which it formally withdrew in 2003.
North Korean officials accused the United States and its allies of politicizing international forums to isolate the country over its weapons program. Speaking at a United Nations session connected to the NPT review process, North Korea’s permanent representative to the UN, Kim Song, criticized Western nations for repeatedly raising the issue of Pyongyang’s nuclear activities.
According to the envoy, continued focus on North Korea’s defense capabilities contributes to rising tensions rather than promoting regional stability. He argued that external pressure and sanctions have only reinforced the country’s determination to strengthen its military deterrence.
The latest remarks reflect Pyongyang’s long-standing position that nuclear weapons are essential for safeguarding national sovereignty against what it describes as hostile policies from Washington and its regional partners. North Korea has repeatedly defended its missile and nuclear development programs as legitimate measures for self-defense.
The announcement comes amid renewed international concern over North Korea’s weapons testing activities. In recent months, the country has conducted several missile launches, including tests involving long-range ballistic systems capable of reaching distant targets. These developments have intensified security concerns across East Asia and prompted calls for stricter enforcement of international sanctions.
The United States, South Korea, and Japan have consistently urged North Korea to return to diplomatic negotiations and abandon its nuclear ambitions. However, analysts believe prospects for denuclearization talks remain limited as Pyongyang continues to expand its strategic weapons capabilities.

Global powers participating in the NPT review discussions have also expressed concern that North Korea’s stance could undermine broader non-proliferation efforts at a time when geopolitical tensions are already high.
Despite mounting diplomatic pressure, North Korea appears determined to maintain its nuclear posture, signaling that future negotiations are unlikely unless its security demands and political conditions are acknowledged by the international community.
