BEIJING/HANGZHOU(The COW News Digital) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has departed on a four-day official visit to China, aiming to strengthen bilateral relations, expand economic cooperation, and advance key projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the visit begins in Hangzhou, where the prime minister will hold important meetings with senior Chinese leadership and business representatives. He is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.

During his stay in Hangzhou, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to meet the Communist Party Secretary of Zhejiang province. He will also attend a Pakistan-China Business Forum focused on enhancing cooperation under the second phase of CPEC. The forum is expected to facilitate new agreements and memoranda of understanding between Pakistani and Chinese companies.

The prime minister will also meet chief executive officers of leading Chinese corporations and visit major institutions including the headquarters of Alibaba Group and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. These visits are aimed at exploring opportunities in technology, agriculture, and digital innovation.

Following his engagements in Hangzhou, the prime minister will travel to Beijing, where he is expected to hold high-level meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang.

A key highlight of the visit will be the participation in a special ceremony marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China. Officials say the event underscores the long-standing strategic partnership between the two countries.

Observers note that the visit comes at a critical time as Pakistan seeks increased investment, infrastructure development, and economic cooperation amid ongoing financial challenges. China remains Pakistan’s largest trading partner and a key ally in regional and global affairs.

The discussions during the visit are expected to focus on expanding CPEC projects, boosting trade volume, and strengthening cooperation in emerging sectors such as artificial intelligence, agriculture modernization, and information technology.

Diplomatic sources describe the visit as an important step toward deepening the “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership” between Pakistan and China.
