National ( The cow news digital ) The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday dismissed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) petition seeking permission to hold a public rally at Minar-e-Pakistan, while instructing government authorities to seek instructions on an alternative venue.
Justice Mirza Viqas Rauf heard the petition filed by PTI leader Mian Usman Akram regarding the August 5 public gathering.
During the proceedings, the government counsel informed the bench that the administration had officially rejected the party’s request to host the event at the historic Minar-e-Pakistan ground.
Court Seeks Alternative Venue Guidance
In response to the rejection, the PTI’s legal counsel urged the court to direct the administration to allocate an alternative location for the political gathering. The government prosecutor countered that the party had not formally filed any prior application for a substitute site.
Taking up the arguments, Justice Mirza Viqas Rauf directed the state counsel to consult with the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Lahore regarding potential alternative venues for the rally and to present formal instructions at the next hearing.
The decision underscores the ongoing administrative hurdles faced by political opposition parties in securing permits for large-scale public demonstrations across Punjab.
