NATIONAL ( The cow news digital ) A delegation of opposition leaders traveling toward Azad Kashmir was stopped by police on the Rawalpindi–Kahuta Road, triggering a brief protest and sit-in before the demonstration was later called off.

According to details, the group was being led by Opposition Leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai and included several senior political figures such as Senate Opposition Leader Allama Nasir Abbas, former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, and Mehtab Abbasi. The delegation was reportedly heading towards Azad Kashmir to meet local representatives and discuss ongoing concerns.

Police intervention on the route halted the convoy, after which the opposition leaders staged a sit-in on the Azad Pattan Highway. The situation caused temporary disruption to traffic as the road was blocked during the protest.

Speaking to the media after ending the sit-in, Mahmood Khan Achakzai said that a Kashmiri delegation had approached them with concerns and requested assistance in addressing their issues. He added that the group had decided to speak openly on the matter, emphasizing that they would support genuine demands while rejecting those they considered unjust. He also noted that their protest had inadvertently affected public movement on the main highway.

Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar criticized the government’s response, saying it had worsened the situation instead of easing tensions. He stated that the intention of the delegation was to facilitate dialogue and ensure that grievances from Azad Kashmir were heard and addressed properly.
