National ( The cow news digital ) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has called for a counterterrorism operation in the province similar to the ongoing security operations in Balochistan, saying that a comprehensive strategy is needed to eliminate militant threats.
Speaking in an interview with Geo News, Governor Kundi said that the security operation in Balochistan has received full support from the provincial government and that a similar approach should be considered for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to the growing security challenges.
He stated that Pakistan would take action against terrorist elements and their supporters wherever they receive assistance. According to him, any location being used to facilitate attacks against Pakistan would be dealt with through security measures.
The governor also discussed concerns regarding cross-border security and alleged that militant groups were receiving support from outside Pakistan. He said that Islamabad has repeatedly conveyed its concerns to Afghanistan regarding the use of its territory against Pakistan.
Kundi added that Pakistan has raised the issue of foreign involvement in activities targeting the country and emphasized that protecting national security remains the government’s priority. He said border management measures were also part of efforts to prevent militant movement and support networks.
The governor’s remarks come amid continued security challenges in parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where law enforcement agencies have carried out operations against armed groups. Security officials have frequently highlighted the need for coordinated efforts involving intelligence agencies, law enforcement institutions, and local administrations to address militancy.
During the interview, Faisal Karim Kundi also commented on the country’s political situation, saying that political alliances can change over time. He noted that the Pakistan Peoples Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz have competed against each other in various elections but have also worked together in certain situations, including government formation.
He said that current political partnerships should not be viewed as permanent, as political circumstances continue to evolve. His comments reflected the changing nature of alliances among major political parties in Pakistan.
The governor’s statement regarding a possible security operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is likely to spark further discussion among political circles, security experts, and local stakeholders about the approach needed to tackle militancy while maintaining stability in the province.
