MUZAFFARABAD — Voting officially commenced in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly to elect representatives for eight reserved seats.

The polling process is scheduled to run continuously from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with the Secretary of the Election Commission serving as the presiding officer. Member of the Legislative Assembly Majid Khan cast the first vote as assembly members gather to fill seats allocated for five women, one technocrat, one religious scholar (Ulema and Mashaikh), and one overseas Kashmiri representative.

Following the completion of the electoral process for these reserved seats, the newly elected assembly members will take their oaths of office. The assembly will subsequently proceed to elect its Speaker and Deputy Speaker to complete its constitutional setup.

Government formation efforts are currently moving forward under unique circumstances, operating without seven assembly members due to delayed polling in the Poonch and Sudhanoti divisions. Official results and session updates will be published by the election management authorities once counting concludes.
