KOHAT (The COW News Digital) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Suhail Afridi blamed flawed foreign policy decisions for the alarming escalation of terrorism across the province, asserting that unilateral decision-making has failed to establish lasting regional peace.
Speaking during a visit to Kohat, where he inquired after injured police personnel and offered condolences to families affected by the recent Kohat Police Lines mosque bombing, the Chief Minister highlighted the region’s immense sacrifices. He noted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has suffered over 80,000 casualties since 2004, reiterating that peace was uniquely achieved during former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s administration.
Afridi criticized closed-door policy decisions, arguing that current security strategies remain ineffective and economic conditions in tribal districts continue to deteriorate. He asserted that implementing his administration’s proposed peace strategy could restore security within 100 days, though he questioned federal willingness to adopt the provincial framework.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister expressed frustration over administrative hurdles and political victimization, alleging that federal institutions are actively attempting to marginalize Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. He condemned political restrictions imposed on provincial leadership when visiting other provinces and urged the public and local police force to stand firm against mounting security and political challenges.
