Islamabad (The COW News Digital)Pakistan has reiterated its commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia in the event of any threat to its security, with Defence Minister Khawaja Asif saying Islamabad is prepared to use all available resources to assist the Kingdom during any potential escalation.
Speaking about the security situation in the region, Khawaja Asif said Pakistan stands ready to support Saudi Arabia if its security comes under threat from the Houthis or any other party.
The defence minister said that any act of aggression against Saudi Arabia would be treated as a serious security concern for Pakistan. He emphasized that Islamabad would remain available to assist Riyadh during any escalation and would use all available means at its disposal.
Khawaja Asif said the source of the threat would not change Pakistan’s position, stressing that whether tensions emerge from the Houthis or another country, Pakistan would stand by Saudi Arabia in response to any action challenging the Kingdom’s security.
He further stated that Saudi Arabia’s security remains important to Pakistan and reiterated the country’s readiness to respond to developments affecting the Kingdom.
The minister’s remarks come amid heightened regional tensions and concerns over the security of Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states. The Houthi movement in Yemen has previously carried out missile and drone attacks targeting Saudi territory, although the current circumstances and any specific threat referenced by the minister would depend on developments on the ground.
Khawaja Asif also emphasized the close relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, describing the two countries as having strong strategic and security ties.
His statement signals Islamabad’s continued focus on Saudi Arabia’s security at a time when conflicts and tensions across the Middle East have raised concerns about the possibility of further regional escalation.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have maintained long-standing defence and security cooperation. The defence minister’s latest comments, however, specifically referred to a potential security challenge facing Saudi Arabia and Pakistan’s willingness to provide support if such a situation arises.
