Islamabad (The COW News Digital) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has distanced the party from Imran Khan’s official X account during a hearing at the Islamabad High Court concerning a petition seeking the account’s closure.
The case was heard by Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir following a petition filed by a citizen. Barrister Gohar appeared before the court alongside lawyers representing Imran Khan, including Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry and Shamsa Kiyani, as well as officials from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
During the proceedings, Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir told Barrister Gohar that his personal appearance had not been required and that a written response could have been submitted instead.
In response, the PTI chairman stated that the party did not claim ownership of Imran Khan’s official X account, distancing the organisation from the account at the centre of the legal proceedings.
Barrister Gohar requested additional time to submit a detailed written response, explaining that circumstances had changed and that the party needed an opportunity to present its position formally.
The judge accepted the request and directed him to submit the response in writing. Barrister Gohar subsequently sought more time to prepare a comprehensive reply.
The Islamabad High Court granted the request and adjourned the hearing until November 23.
The proceedings concern a petition seeking the closure of Imran Khan’s official X account. Further details regarding the account’s management, the legal grounds for the requested closure and the parties’ complete positions were not established in the information available about the hearing.
The case is expected to continue when the court reconvenes on November 23, with Barrister Gohar expected to submit the party’s written response.
