Peshawar( The COW News Digital) Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi has appealed to the nation to come forward and support flood victims in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) by attending an upcoming charity exhibition match organized by the provincial government.
In a heartfelt video message, Afridi confirmed his participation in the charity fixture, emphasizing the urgent need for collective efforts to help those devastated by recent flooding. The former star all-rounder said the exhibition game is not just about cricket but about standing with thousands of families who lost homes, livelihoods, and security in the floods.
“The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are going through extremely tough times due to floods. This charity match is being organized to support them, and I will also be part of it along with other cricketers,” Afridi stated. “I urge everyone to come, watch, and support the cause. Your presence will make a difference for flood victims.”
According to officials, the KP government has arranged the match to raise funds for relief and rehabilitation projects in flood-hit areas. All proceeds from ticket sales and sponsorships will be directed toward rescue operations, rebuilding infrastructure, and providing food and shelter to displaced families.
The floods have caused widespread destruction across KP, displacing thousands of families and leaving vast areas of agricultural land under water. Emergency services and local authorities continue to struggle with the scale of devastation, as displaced communities face shortages of clean drinking water, medical supplies, and safe housing.
Afridi, who has long been involved in philanthropic activities through the Shahid Afridi Foundation, said that cricket has always united Pakistanis in difficult times. “This is the moment when sports can serve as a bridge to help our people in need. By joining us at the stadium, you will be directly contributing to the lives of flood-affected families,” he added.
The exhibition match is expected to feature both retired and current cricketers, with thousands of fans anticipated to attend. Organizers hope the event will not only generate much-needed financial assistance but also send a message of solidarity to those suffering in flood-affected regions.
Authorities will release details regarding venue, date, and ticket availability in the coming days, urging the public to participate wholeheartedly.
