China Pledges Continued Support for Pakistan’s Growth

Islamabad( The COW News Digital)Chinese President Xi Jinping has reaffirmed China’s commitment to support Pakistan across all sectors of economic development, particularly as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) enters its second phase, focusing on Pakistan’s most critical economic sectors.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with President Xi at Beijing’s Great Hall of the People during his official visit to China. The leaders held a cordial discussion emphasizing the strategic, all-weather partnership between Pakistan and China, reaffirming their joint resolve to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif congratulated President Xi on the successful Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit held in Tianjin and extended felicitations on the 80th anniversary of the global fight against fascism. He lauded President Xi’s visionary leadership, which has propelled China toward modernization and progress, and expressed Pakistan’s pride in China’s achievements.

The Prime Minister also appreciated China’s unwavering support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, regional stability, and socio-economic development. He highlighted the strategic importance of CPEC as a key project under China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with China for the successful implementation of the upgraded next phase, which includes five additional corridors.

These collaborative efforts are expected to strengthen the Pakistan-China community and create a shared future of prosperity and growth for both nations. Prime Minister Sharif also acknowledged President Xi’s strong commitment to multilateral initiatives, including the Global Governance Initiative, Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative, describing them as essential for global welfare and regional and international peace, stability, and development.

President Xi emphasized that China would continue to provide assistance to Pakistan in all areas of economic growth, with particular attention on key sectors highlighted under CPEC’s second phase. Both leaders agreed that the Pakistan-China relationship is unique and exemplary, and that bilateral cooperation should continue to reflect this special partnership.

The discussion also covered major regional and international developments, with both sides agreeing to maintain close collaboration on relevant global issues. Prime Minister Sharif extended a heartfelt invitation to President Xi to visit Pakistan next year for the 75th anniversary of Pakistan-China friendship, which President Xi warmly acknowledged.

The meeting underscores the enduring strategic partnership between Pakistan and China, highlighting economic cooperation, regional stability, and long-term development as cornerstones of their bilateral relations.
