ISLAMABAD – China has reaffirmed its commitment to Pakistan, stating that the country will continue to be a priority in Beijing’s neighborhood diplomacy. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized that Pakistan is a trusted ally, and both nations are working to elevate their strategic partnership to new heights.
Wang Yi made the remarks during a meeting with Pakistan’s Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, highlighting the importance of bilateral cooperation in trade, regional security, and multilateral diplomacy. “China considers Pakistan a reliable partner, and we are eager to strengthen collaboration in industrial, agricultural, and mining sectors,” Wang Yi said.
The Chinese minister underscored the shared responsibility of both countries to protect the multilateral trading system and expressed readiness to collaborate with Pakistan on upgrading the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He also highlighted areas of enhanced cooperation in cybersecurity, regional alliances, and counterterrorism efforts.
“Regional peace and stability remain a common goal,” Wang Yi noted. “We look forward to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s upcoming visit to China to further discuss mutual interests and strategic projects.”
Ishaq Dar welcomed the remarks, expressing gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to a strong bilateral relationship. Speaking at a joint press conference, he emphasized that detailed discussions took place on multiple issues, including CPEC Phase Two and regional security initiatives.
Dar also appreciated China’s continued support for Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. “We value China’s steadfast commitment and are determined to work together for regional peace, stability, and prosperity,” he said.
The meeting reflects the deepening ties between the two countries, which have long shared a multifaceted partnership encompassing economic development, trade, defense, and diplomatic collaboration. Both sides stressed that ongoing and future projects under CPEC are central to the nations’ strategic and economic alignment.
Wang Yi and Ishaq Dar agreed on the importance of maintaining a secure, effective, and conducive business environment in Pakistan, while fostering cooperation across industrial, agricultural, and technological sectors. Analysts say these engagements signal an even closer alignment of policy and development priorities, strengthening the long-standing strategic alliance.
