National ( The cow news digital ) In a poignant turn of events, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) City Dayar Khan was martyred during a terrorist attack in Hangu, just 24 hours after visiting the grave of a fallen officer and pledging that the force would “never back down.”
The incident occurred when militants launched an assault on the Khazeena police post. DSP Dayar Khan immediately rushed to the scene to lead the tactical response, ultimately sacrificing his life alongside several officers while engaging the attackers.
Only a day prior, during a Martyrs’ Day observance, DSP Khan had visited a local cemetery to lay flowers, offer prayers, and meet with the family of a martyred police officer. Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, Khan remarked, “We stand with our martyrs; we are not afraid.” His words served as his final public message before he was killed in the line of duty.
Following the attack, a video circulated widely on social media showing the senior officer presenting a formal salute at the martyr’s grave—a scene that drew widespread emotional reaction across the country.
Police officials highlighted the sacrifice as a testament to the ongoing resolve and frontline commitment of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police force against militant threats. DSP Dayar Khan was laid to rest with full official military honors.
