National ( The cow news digital ) A Rawalpindi court has sentenced the main accused, Farakh Khokhar, to life imprisonment in the high-profile murder case of Majid Satti, ordering his immediate arrest from the courtroom after announcing the verdict.
The judgment was delivered by Additional District and Sessions Judge Afshan Ejaz Safi, who convicted Farakh Khokhar along with co-accused Ameer Hamza and Haider Nawaz. In addition to life imprisonment, the court imposed a fine of Rs1 million on each of the three convicted individuals.
Following the announcement of the verdict, security personnel took Farakh Khokhar into custody inside the courtroom and placed him in handcuffs. The court directed authorities to transfer the convicts to Adiala Jail under strict security arrangements.
The detailed verdict was also released, outlining the court’s findings in the murder case that has remained under trial since 2022. According to the prosecution, Majid Satti was brutally murdered on August 23, 2022, within the jurisdiction of Sadiqabad Police Station in Rawalpindi. A criminal case was subsequently registered, and the investigation led to the prosecution of the accused.
After the verdict, Farakh Khokhar rejected the court’s decision, maintaining his innocence. Speaking to the media, he claimed he was not present at the crime scene and described the judgment as unjust. He said he had instructed his legal team to challenge the conviction before a higher court, alleging that the decision was motivated by retaliation.
The case attracted significant public attention because of the political backgrounds of those associated with it. Farakh Khokhar had previously resigned from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) before joining Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI). He is also the son of the late Taji Khokhar, a well-known political figure in Rawalpindi.
According to the prosecution, the murder stemmed from a dispute related to a land possession issue. The deceased, Majid Satti, was reportedly attempting to prevent the illegal occupation of a plot when the incident occurred. The victim was known to have political links with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The convicted men have been shifted to Adiala Jail, while the legal process is expected to continue through the appellate courts if the convictions are challenged.
