National ( The cow news digital ) Pakistani actor Gohar Rasheed has sparked a debate on social media after questioning the methodology and signage used during the annual Aurat March, arguing that demands for women’s rights should be communicated through more civil and culturally respectful channels.
Speaking during a recent podcast appearance, Rasheed voiced strong opposition to the objectification of women in media—specifically calling out item numbers in films—while stressing that advocacy efforts should maintain appropriate standards of discourse.
“Women should never be objectified under any circumstances, which is why item numbers in movies should not be supported,” Rasheed stated. “However, during the march, some posters feature tone and imagery that feel inappropriate or vulgar. Important issues and rights can be communicated in a far more civilized manner.”
The actor’s comments triggered mixed reactions across social media platforms. While a segment of online users agreed with his stance regarding event signage, critics questioned why similar emphasis was not directed toward systemic issues such as gender-based violence and child abuse.
