Yemen (The COW News Digital) Yemen’s Houthi group has claimed responsibility for missile and drone attacks targeting Saudi Arabia’s Aramco oil facilities in the coastal city of Yanbu and a military airbase in Khamis Mushait.
According to international media reports, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said the attacks were carried out in response to Saudi airstrikes against Houthi positions in Yemen.
Saree claimed that dozens of ballistic missiles and drones were launched toward the Aramco facility in Yanbu. He alleged that the weapons struckouthi spokesperson also claimed that several ballistic missiles were fired at the military airbase in Khamis Mushait, alleging that aircraft stationed their intended targets, causing fires and extensive damage to the oil installations.

Saudi authorities had not immediately confirmed the Houthi claims regarding the Yanbu Aramco facilities or the Khamis Mushait airbase. Reuters also reported that it had not received an immediate response from Saudi officials regarding the allegations.
The latest claims come amid a reported increase in Houthi attacks involving Saudi Arabia. On Tuesday, an alert was reportedly issued warning of a potential aerial threat toward Makkah before being withdrawn.
Saudi authorities subsequently said their air defence systems had intercepted and destroyed a drone launched from Yemen toward the Makkah region.
A member of the Houthi political bureau, Hazem Al-Asad, rejected the allegation that the group had targeted Makkah with a drone. He described the Saudi account as what he called a repeated narrative by the kingdom.
Earlier, the Saudi-led military coalition said Houthi missile and drone attacks had targeted Khamis Mushait, Abha and Taif. According to the coalition, 13 civilians were injured and seven homes and two vehicles were damaged in the attacks.
The latest developments highlight the continuing military tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Houthi movement, which has repeatedly exchanged attacks and accusations amid the wider conflict in Yemen.
The reported targeting of energy infrastructure is particularly significant because Yanbu is an important industrial and energy hub on Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea coast. However, the extent of any damage to Aramco facilities remains unverified pending confirmation from Saudi authorities or independent sources.
The situation remains fluid, with further information expected as Saudi officials assess the reported attacks and the Houthi claims.
