Demonstrators gathered in the eastern state of Bihar, where civil service aspirants under the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) took to the streets demanding absolute transparency in national and state competitive examinations. Protesters urged authorities to implement immediate structural reforms, strictly enforce merit-based selection, and investigate allegations of leakages within the testing infrastructure.
Law enforcement agencies responded with heavy force, using batons, high-pressure water cannons, and mass detentions to disperse the crowds. Civil society members and rights advocates expressed deep concern over police aggression, describing the violent crackdown as an excessive measure aimed at suffocating peaceful dissent.
Leading opposition leader Rahul Gandhi leveled strong criticism against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging that the government relies on state police power to shield itself from institutional accountability.
