TEHRAN (The COW News Digital) Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said Tehran will release additional details about US losses during the ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States, describing publicly available information as only “the tip of the iceberg.”
In a statement posted on social media platform X, Araghchi rejected US claims about Iran’s military capabilities and said it was incorrect to assume that Iran was defenseless.
Araghchi also referred to a recent report by the US Department of Defense, claiming that hundreds of American military sites were damaged or destroyed during the conflict and that dozens of US aircraft were affected. The figures cited by the Iranian foreign minister have not been independently verified in full.
According to the report cited in the statement, US military facilities in Gulf countries and other locations across the region sustained damage during Iranian attacks. Hundreds of buildings and other installations were reportedly affected, while dozens of American aircraft and drones were either destroyed or damaged.
The report also estimated that the United States spent approximately $33.4 billion on the war between February 28 and June 30. During the same period, the US military reportedly used weapons valued at around $22.3 billion.
Araghchi said the information currently available about US losses represents only a small portion of the overall damage. He indicated that Iran would publish further details at what it considers an appropriate time.
The Iranian foreign minister also accused Washington of spreading what he described as misinformation about Iran and its military capabilities. He argued that the release of additional information would provide a different picture of the scale and impact of the conflict.
The remarks come amid continued debate over the military and financial consequences of the confrontation. While the US Defense Department’s inspector general reporting has documented damage to American military infrastructure and equipment, individual claims regarding the scale of losses remain subject to verification and differing accounts from the parties involved.
Neither the Iranian government’s broader claims nor all reported figures concerning aircraft, drones, military facilities and weapons losses have been independently established. Further assessments from US and international authorities could provide additional information about the extent of the damage and the financial cost of the conflict.
Araghchi’s comments signal that Tehran intends to continue highlighting the costs incurred by the United States while challenging Washington’s public narrative about the conflict.
