Tehran (The COW News Digital): Iran has warned Bahrain and other countries in the Gulf region against allowing their territory, military bases or airspace to be used for attacks against Iran, saying Tehran would respond if such attacks are permitted again.

The warning was issued by Ali Karimi-Maqam, second secretary of Iran’s permanent mission to the United Nations, during a session of the UN General Assembly’s Third Committee.

Karimi-Maqam made the remarks while responding to comments delivered by Bahrain’s representative regarding the human rights situation and the ongoing regional tensions. The Iranian diplomat accused Bahrain of overlooking what he described as the circumstances and developments that had contributed to the current situation.

According to Iran’s state-run IRNA news agency, Karimi-Maqam rejected Bahrain’s position that it was a victim of the current circumstances. He alleged that Bahrain had allowed its territory, military facilities and airspace to be used in what he described as an illegal US war against Iran.

The Iranian representative argued that countries allowing their territory and facilities to be used for military operations against a neighboring state should not be surprised by possible consequences.

He reiterated Iran’s warning to regional countries, calling on them not to allow their territory, airspace or military installations to be used for attacks against Iran.

Karimi-Maqam said that if such attacks were allowed to take place again, Iran would respond. His remarks reflected Tehran’s growing concern over the potential involvement of regional military facilities in hostilities involving Iran and the United States.

The statement comes amid heightened tensions in the Gulf region, where several countries host foreign military forces and maintain strategic military facilities. The situation has raised concerns over the possibility that regional states could become involved in a broader confrontation between Iran and the United States.

Iran has repeatedly warned neighboring countries against allowing their territory to be used for hostile military activity. Gulf states, meanwhile, have faced increasing security concerns as regional tensions have intensified.

Bahrain has not, in the information cited by IRNA, indicated that it intends to permit future attacks against Iran from its territory. The Iranian statement was made in response to Bahrain’s comments at the United Nations and represents Tehran’s stated position on the issue.

The latest warning could further increase diplomatic pressure on Gulf countries as they seek to avoid becoming directly involved in escalating regional tensions.

The developments also highlight the strategic importance of Gulf airspace and military installations, particularly as tensions between Iran and the United States continue to affect the wider Middle East.

Iranian officials have emphasized that any use of neighboring countries’ territory for attacks against Iran could have consequences. However, details of what specific response Tehran might take were not provided in the statement.

Regional and international observers are closely monitoring developments as diplomatic efforts continue and concerns remain over the potential expansion of the conflict.
