World ( The cow news digital ) The funeral and burial ceremony of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and his family members is scheduled to take place today in Mashhad, according to Iranian officials.
The bodies will be laid to rest within the premises of the Imam Reza Shrine in the holy city of Mashhad. The governor’s office stated that large numbers of mourners have participated in funeral ceremonies held in different cities across Iran and Iraq.
According to officials, the body of Ayatollah Khamenei was taken to Karbala, where millions of mourners gathered to pay their respects. The procession included visits to the shrines of Hazrat Abbas and Imam Hussain, where people offered prayers and paid tribute.
Before reaching Karbala, the funeral procession arrived in Najaf, where a funeral prayer was held at the shrine of Imam Ali. Officials said thousands of people gathered around the shrine and surrounding areas during the ceremony.
Earlier, large funeral prayers were held in Tehran and Qom, where crowds gathered to participate in ceremonies honoring Ayatollah Khamenei and his family members.
Iranian authorities described the gatherings as a major expression of public mourning, with religious and political figures attending the ceremonies. Security arrangements were put in place across the cities hosting the funeral events due to the large number of participants.
