NOWSHERA(The COW News Digital) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has announced that he will personally spearhead a massive long march toward Islamabad on September 27, aiming to mobilize a crowd of over two million people to press for the release of incarcerated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.
Addressing a tree-plantation inauguration ceremony in Nowshera, Chief Minister Afridi adopted a defiant tone, stating that no external force could deter him from his political vision or democratic struggle.
“The entire nation demonstrated its power on the night of August 3, when a single call transformed Islamabad’s D-Chowk. For the September 27 long march, I will lead the caravan from the front, bringing more than two million citizens to the capital,” Afridi declared.
The Chief Minister emphasized that public welfare remains the foremost priority of the provincial administration. Highlighting the government’s financial achievements, Afridi noted that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has allocated a historic development budget of 235 billion rupees, setting a new benchmark for regional progress.
Shifting focus to environmental initiatives during the event, Afridi revealed that the provincial government has planned an aggressive green drive. Under the ongoing mega plantation campaign, roughly 14 million saplings will be planted across the province by March.
Afridi’s announcement underscores the escalating standoff between the PTI-led provincial administration and the federal government. Defending the necessity of street agitation, the Chief Minister reiterated that continuous efforts, coupled with strict adherence to good governance, are being utilized to secure justice and liberty for the party founder.
Political analysts view the September 27 showdown as a critical inflection point for national politics, as PTI prepares for a high-stakes mobilization campaign centered in Islamabad.
