TEHRAN(The COW News Digital) Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs vehemently condemned fresh US military strikes on its strategic Larak Island, asserting that subsequent Iranian retaliatory operations targeting American facilities in Jordan were a lawful exercise of its inherent right to self-defense.

In an official press statement released Monday, Iranian diplomatic officials stated that Washington violated Iran’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity after US military assets targeted locations on Larak Island, situated near the northern entrance of the critical Strait of Hormuz. Tehran confirmed that the American bombardment resulted in both military and civilian casualties.

In direct response to the Larak Island assault, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) executed a series of retaliatory missile and drone operations against regional bases hosting American forces in Jordan, including the King Hussein and Al Azraq military installations. Tehran justified the cross-border strikes as a proportional measure under international law, maintaining that the targeted installations had provided operational support for the strike against Iranian territory.

The latest flare-up marks a sharp escalation in regional hostilites, breaking a weeks-long lull in direct military engagements. Washington claimed its strikes were defensive actions designed to eliminate IRGC rocket launchers allegedly preparing to deploy naval mines in international shipping lanes across the Strait of Hormuz. Conversely, Iranian authorities rejected the claims, labeling the US actions an act of unprovoked aggression aimed at compromising its national security.

The military confrontation has heightened global anxieties over maritime security and energy transport throughout the Middle East. The Strait of Hormuz remains a central transit route for worldwide petroleum exports, and escalating exchanges raise concerns regarding long-term commercial disruptions.

Reaffirming its position, the Iranian government warned that while it does not seek a broader regional conflict, it will continue utilizing its full defense architecture to counter any further external aggression threatening its borders or citizens.
