National ( The cow news digital ) A Lahore sessions court has confirmed the interim bail of TikTok personality Iqra Kanwal and her husband Areeb in a case related to the alleged promotion of an online gambling application.
The decision was announced by Additional Sessions Judge Nusrat Ali Siddiqui after hearing arguments from the lawyers representing both sides. During the hearing, the accused appeared before the court and completed their attendance process as required.
The case was registered by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), which accused the suspects of promoting an online gambling application. The agency had initiated legal proceedings against the individuals under relevant cybercrime-related laws.
During the court proceedings, the defence lawyers presented their arguments and requested that the interim relief granted to the accused be maintained. After reviewing the arguments and hearing both parties, the court approved the confirmation of their interim bail.
Iqra Kanwal, who is known for her presence on social media platforms, has a significant following online. Her involvement in the case attracted public attention due to her popularity as a digital content creator. The case has also renewed discussions about the responsibilities of social media influencers when promoting commercial products and online services.
Authorities have previously warned digital creators and public figures against endorsing platforms that may violate legal regulations, particularly those involving financial risks or activities restricted under local laws.
The NCCIA continues to investigate the allegations, while the court’s decision only concerns the confirmation of interim bail and does not represent a final judgment on the charges. Further legal proceedings will determine the outcome of the case based on evidence and arguments presented before the court.
The development comes amid increasing scrutiny of online promotions in Pakistan, where regulatory bodies have been taking action against advertisements and digital campaigns involving potentially unlawful services.
The case remains under judicial consideration, and updates are expected as the investigation and legal process move forward.
