Washington (The COW News Digital) US President Donald Trump has warned that American forces could launch strikes against one or two remaining Iranian nuclear facilities within just 10 minutes if necessary, while claiming that Washington has already significantly weakened Iran’s military capabilities.
Trump said that Iran had repeatedly shown inconsistency during negotiations, alleging that Tehran makes commitments but subsequently backs away from them. He questioned Iran’s reliability as a negotiating partner, raising concerns about whether the country would honour any potential agreement with the United States.
Despite his criticism, Trump described ongoing diplomatic discussions with Iran as progressing well. He said Tehran appeared interested in reaching an agreement, although he remained uncertain whether negotiations would ultimately produce a deal.
The US president also stressed that Washington was in no hurry to conclude negotiations, suggesting that the United States was prepared to wait for Iran to make its position clear.
When questioned about the possibility of renewed military strikes against Iran, Trump dismissed the question as foolish. However, he used the opportunity to reiterate his administration’s claims about the damage inflicted on Iran’s military infrastructure.
Trump said US forces had already targeted Iran’s navy, air force, air defence systems and nuclear facilities. According to the president, only one or two additional nuclear installations remained potential targets for military action.
He further claimed that the United States could carry out strikes against those remaining facilities within 10 minutes if the situation required such action.
The remarks highlight Washington’s continued reliance on both diplomatic pressure and military threats in its dealings with Tehran. Trump’s comments also suggest that the possibility of further military action remains on the table despite ongoing negotiations.
His statements come amid continued uncertainty surrounding efforts to reach an agreement between the two countries. While Trump has indicated that Iran is interested in a deal, his criticism of Tehran’s negotiating approach reflects persistent mistrust between the two sides.
The US president did not identify the specific nuclear facilities he was referring to or provide further operational details about the potential strikes.
He also did not clarify what circumstances would prompt Washington to launch another military operation against Iran.
For now, Trump’s latest remarks underline the difficult balance between diplomatic engagement and military pressure as negotiations continue. Whether the two countries can overcome their differences and reach an agreement remains uncertain.
