The treatment, commercialized under the name “Return to Yours Twenties” (RE2O), involves processing donated human skin tissues in laboratory settings. During the process, cellular material is entirely stripped away, leaving behind a sterile matrix cleaned of reactive components. The final injectable formulation is enriched with human collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid, and cellular extracts tailored to integrate smoothly into the patient’s own tissue.
According to Dr. Kim Han-Saem, a dermatologist at South Korea’s DOD Dermatology Clinic, removing all donor cellular material prevents the recipient’s immune system from rejecting the graft or suffering allergic reactions.
Proponents of the procedure claim that injecting the material into the face and neck helps smooth fine lines, shrink pores, and stimulate the body’s natural production of elastin and collagen to rebuild skin structure. Several patients on online forums, including Reddit, reported noticeable improvements in skin texture within two weeks of treatment.
However, the practice has raised significant ethical concerns regarding the use of human cadaver tissue for purely cosmetic enhancements. Beyond the moral debate, medical experts also highlight the lack of long-term safety data for the procedure, which is now gaining availability in other regional markets including Singapore and Japan.
