Despite a ceasefire agreement brokered by the United States between Pakistan and India, the Indian government has confirmed that the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty will remain in place.
According to reports from British news agencies, four Indian officials have confirmed that the Indus Waters Treaty will remain suspended despite the ceasefire.
Indian authorities further stated that the decisions and sanctions imposed on Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack will not be affected by the ceasefire. They emphasized that trade and visa restrictions imposed on Pakistan immediately after the attack will also continue, regardless of the ceasefire.
Indian officials clarified that the restrictions and decisions taken prior to the ceasefire would remain intact and unaffected by the truce.
It is important to note that Pakistan has called the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty a violation of international law, labeling it a “war act” by India.
