Islamabad ( The COW News Digital)Instagram has introduced a brand-new feature designed to delight users who love watching Reels — the “Watch History” option. This update promises to make it easier than ever for users to rediscover the short videos they’ve previously viewed but couldn’t find again.
According to Instagram Head Adam Mosseri, the Watch History feature will allow users to access a complete record of the Reels they have already watched. The feature aims to address a common frustration among users — losing track of interesting videos after accidentally scrolling past them or refreshing the app.
“Now you can easily find the Reels you’ve recently enjoyed,” Mosseri said in a post on Threads, adding that the feature is part of Instagram’s ongoing effort to enhance user experience and personalization.
The Watch History tool is especially useful for avid Reels viewers who frequently lose engaging clips they didn’t save or share. Many users have long requested such a feature, as Instagram’s fast-paced feed and algorithm-driven recommendations often make it difficult to relocate previously viewed content.
Using the new feature is simple. Users can access it by navigating to Settings → Your Activity → Watch History, where a chronological list of watched Reels will be displayed. The most recently viewed videos appear at the top, while older ones can be found below. Additionally, Instagram has included a date filter that allows users to check what they watched on a specific day.
This small yet powerful update represents another step in Instagram’s effort to make the platform more user-friendly and engaging. Over the past year, Instagram has focused heavily on improving the Reels experience to compete with TikTok and YouTube Shorts.
Experts say that the new Watch History option may also help creators by increasing re-engagement with their videos, as users can return to previously watched Reels for replays, shares, and comments.
With this update, Instagram continues to blur the line between entertainment and discovery, ensuring that users not only find new content but can easily revisit what they love.
Whether you’re a casual scroller or a Reels addict, the Watch History feature is set to become one of Instagram’s most appreciated additions yet.
