In a historic election, the Labour Party has emerged victorious, winning a landslide majority in the UK general election. Keir Starmer, the leader of the Labour Party, is set to become the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. In his first address to the nation, Starmer promised to steer the country towards \”calmer waters\” after years of political turmoil.
The Conservative Party, led by outgoing Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, suffered a devastating defeat, losing over 250 seats. The party\’s worst-ever defeat has led to Sunak\’s resignation as party leader. Several cabinet ministers and former Prime Minister Liz Truss also lost their seats in the election.
The Liberal Democrats had their best result in years, becoming the third-largest party in parliament. The Green Party made gains, while the Scottish National Party suffered a significant loss, losing nearly 40 seats.
Nigel Farage\’s Reform UK party won its first seats and came second in many constituencies, splitting the right-wing vote and contributing to the Conservatives\’ losses.
