Due to an incomplete number of members in the Jirga, the agreement could not be signed yesterday. However, both parties agree on several points of the agreement.
According to a member of the Jirga, there is still a deadlock over the demand to collect heavy weapons from Kurram district and hand them over to the government. One party has not yet reached a decision despite repeated consultations with local elders regarding this demand.
In yesterday’s Jirga held at Kohat Fort, various points were discussed. The Jirga is being chaired by Commissioner Kohat, Mutasim Ba Allah.
The administration has stated that opening the road remains a major risk as long as heavy weapons are present. Helicopter services are operational throughout the district, with helicopters delivering medicines and other supplies to Kurram.
