Islamabad( The COW News Digital)A major crackdown has been launched against Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) over alleged anti-state propaganda being spread through social media platforms, according to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).

The NCCIA, acting on intelligence reports, initiated a comprehensive operation targeting TLP’s digital network accused of disseminating content against the state and national institutions. Officials confirmed that 19 TLP members have been arrested so far in connection with the campaign, which authorities describe as a “coordinated online misinformation drive.”

According to NCCIA sources, sixteen suspects were apprehended from Gujranwala, where teams reportedly uncovered evidence linking them to multiple fake social media accounts and digital communication groups allegedly used for anti-state messaging. Meanwhile, three other suspects were traced abroad, accused of operating from overseas to fuel propaganda against Pakistan.

To date, the NCCIA has conducted 21 raids across various cities, leading to the recovery of electronic devices, social media data, and encrypted communication records. The agency has also initiated 20 formal inquiries against individuals suspected of being part of the TLP-linked online network.

A senior NCCIA official, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that the operation is part of a broader state initiative to curb cyber-based threats and misinformation. “The digital landscape has become a battleground. We are committed to ensuring that social media is not exploited for spreading hate or destabilizing the country,” the official said.

In Punjab, 10 raids were carried out in Multan, while six operations were conducted in Lahore. Additionally, two separate raids took place in Rawalpindi and Karachi, and one in Hyderabad. The official confirmed that further arrests are expected as cyber investigation teams continue to track digital footprints and foreign-based handlers.

Authorities say the crackdown is ongoing, with NCCIA’s technical divisions monitoring suspicious content round-the-clock. The agency has also reached out to international social media platforms, seeking cooperation in identifying and blocking accounts linked to anti-state activities.

The TLP, a religious-political party known for its street power and social media influence, has not yet issued an official statement regarding the arrests.

Officials reaffirmed that the government remains determined to take decisive action against any organization or individual involved in undermining national stability through online platforms.
