Superstar Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic Juhu residence, “Pratiksha,” has been submerged, with water reportedly entering the house up to knee level. Videos circulating on social media have captured the extent of the flooding, drawing widespread attention and concern.
In one viral clip, water can be seen flowing from the street directly into the bungalow, inundating both the exterior and interior spaces. A car parked on the premises was seen partially submerged, highlighting the severity of the situation. A bystander in the video remarked, “Money or fame doesn’t save anyone from Mumbai rains—not Ambani, not Amitabh Bachchan!” The video also shows the superstar reportedly helping with clearing the water using a wiper.
Pratiksha, located in Mumbai’s upscale Juhu neighborhood, has been a significant part of the Bachchan family’s life for decades. The bungalow was gifted to Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan by filmmaker Ramesh Sippy following the blockbuster success of the film Sholay. Amitabh purchased the house in 1976, and its current estimated value exceeds 50 crore INR. The residence also holds sentimental value, as their children, Shweta and Abhishek Bachchan, were born there. The house was named “Pratiksha” by Amitabh’s father, renowned poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan. Recently, the property was gifted to daughter Shweta Bachchan, who currently resides there.
The monsoon rains have triggered red alerts in several areas of Mumbai and nearby regions, including Thane, Raigarh, Ratnagiri, and Palghar. Transportation across the city has been severely affected, with local trains delayed, flights canceled, and roads submerged. Authorities have urged residents to exercise caution and avoid non-essential travel.
Meteorologists predict that the heavy rainfall will continue until August 21, 2025, raising concerns about further flooding and potential damage to property. Residents are being advised to stay alert, and local authorities have deployed emergency teams to assist affected areas.
This incident serves as a reminder that even prominent public figures and high-value properties are not immune to the disruptive power of Mumbai’s monsoons, which annually challenge the city’s infrastructure and resilience.
