Islamabad ( The COW News Digital)The National Cyber Investigation Agency (NCIA) has registered a case against National Assembly member Shandana Gulzar Khan under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 for allegedly spreading anti-state propaganda and fake news on social media.
According to NCIA officials, Case No. 296/2025 has been lodged against Shandana Gulzar for posting fake, misleading, and inflammatory content on social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). The investigation revealed that the accused shared several fabricated tweets and videos containing hateful statements and incitement against state institutions.
Authorities said the posts also sought to stir racial and linguistic hatred, while some tweets allegedly contained false information about the Prime Minister of Pakistan, including fake claims of a meeting with the Israeli Prime Minister.
Officials stated that the spread of such misinformation created fear, anxiety, and mistrust among the public regarding state institutions.
The investigation concluded that Shandana Gulzar deliberately promoted an anti-state narrative through fake news and misleading visuals. Consequently, she has been charged under Sections 11, 20, and 26-A of PECA 2016.
Further investigation is underway to identify other individuals and networks involved in the broader anti-state campaign, the NCIA added
