World ( The cow news digital ) Security tensions in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) have escalated following days of violent protests linked to a banned group, resulting in significant casualties among law enforcement personnel and mass arrests across the region.
According to an official police statement, at least four security personnel were martyred and 89 others injured during eight days of unrest from June 6 to June 14, 2026. Authorities confirmed that 81 separate cases have been registered and 425 individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the violence and alleged acts of sabotage.
Law enforcement agencies stated that the arrested suspects were allegedly involved in violent activities, and in several cases, sensitive materials and other objectionable items were recovered from their possession. Officials further claimed that over 400 additional individuals linked to what they described as miscreants are also facing legal proceedings as investigations continue.
The unrest has been associated with protests organized under the framework of a proscribed group, during which multiple incidents of violence were reported across various districts of AJK. Authorities said that protestors allegedly targeted state infrastructure, clashed with security forces, and caused disruptions in several towns.
In one of the more serious incidents cited by officials, protesters reportedly entered a medical facility and caused damage, including vandalism inside the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), where they allegedly attacked patients and destroyed important records. These allegations have intensified the government’s response and prompted expanded security operations.
The police further reported that protests and shutdowns were observed in several regions, including Rawalakot, Muzaffarabad, Bagh, Neelum, Bhimber, Mirpur, and Kotli. However, authorities maintained that security forces acted with restraint and strategic coordination, which they say helped stabilize the situation over time.
Officials also stated that all major entry points into the region remain open and that transportation routes have largely returned to normal. Traffic flow, according to the administration, has resumed in most affected areas, signaling gradual improvement in the overall security environment.
While authorities emphasize restoration of order, the situation remains sensitive, with ongoing investigations and continued monitoring of suspected individuals. The government has reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order while ensuring that those responsible for violence are held accountable under the law.
