National ( The cow news digital ) In a remarkable rescue operation, a laborer trapped inside a marble quarry in Mardan has been recovered alive after 17 days, bringing a wave of relief and emotion to the local community.
The incident occurred in the Nanga Abad area of Tehsil Rustam, where a sudden collapse of a hillside during marble mining operations on March 31 left several workers buried under heavy rocks and debris. The unexpected landslide triggered an extensive emergency response, with rescue teams rushing to the site to begin search and recovery efforts.
According to official reports, multiple workers were trapped beneath the rubble when the mountain slope gave way. In the initial phase of the rescue operation, eight workers were recovered dead, while two others were successfully pulled out alive in the following days.
Despite extremely difficult conditions, including unstable debris, limited oxygen supply, and continuous risk of further collapse, rescue teams continued their efforts without interruption. The operation turned into one of the longest and most challenging rescue missions in the region in recent years.
After more than two weeks of continuous digging, monitoring, and careful excavation, rescuers finally managed to locate and retrieve a trapped worker identified as Abdul Wahab. Authorities confirmed that he was found alive and was immediately provided medical assistance on-site before being shifted for further treatment and observation.
Rescue officials stated that the success of the operation was the result of coordinated efforts by emergency response teams who worked around the clock under highly dangerous conditions. They added that survival after such a long duration under debris is extremely rare, making this case particularly extraordinary.

The incident has once again raised concerns over worker safety in mining areas and the need for stricter enforcement of safety regulations to prevent such tragedies in the future.
