National ( The cow news digital ) Pakistan’s bowling coach Umar Gul has dismissed speculation of a dispute with fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, calling viral social media claims misleading and based on a misinterpreted video.
Speaking at a press conference, Umar Gul addressed the controversy that surfaced after a clip circulated online, prompting users to speculate about an alleged argument between him and the national team pacer. The video had led to widespread discussion on social media, with some suggesting tension within the team environment.
Gul explained that the incident in question took place during a practice session when fast bowler Hasan Ali had suffered an injury and was seen lying on the ground. At the same time, Shaheen Afridi was reportedly seated away from the main practice area.
He said that Shaheen usually applies tape on his knee during bowling sessions, and the conversation captured in the video was related to routine training instructions and player management, not a conflict. According to him, the situation was entirely misrepresented online.
The bowling coach added that during the same moment, team staff and players, including Sarfaraz Ahmed, were focused on attending to Hasan Ali’s injury, which shifted attention on the field. He emphasized that what appeared as a heated exchange was simply a normal reaction during a busy training environment.
Umar Gul further clarified that he was unaware the interaction was being recorded and later shared on social media, which contributed to unnecessary speculation. He stressed that there was no altercation or disagreement between him and Shaheen Afridi.
The clarification comes after the video sparked debate among fans and analysts, many of whom interpreted the body language in the clip as evidence of internal team friction.
With the explanation now issued, the matter appears to be a misunderstanding amplified by social media circulation, rather than an actual dispute within the Pakistan cricket setup.
