Zalmi Defeat Quetta, Retain Top PSL 11 Position

National ( The cow news digital ) Peshawar Zalmi continued their dominant run in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 as they defeated Quetta Gladiators by eight wickets, securing their sixth victory of the tournament and maintaining their position at the top of the points table.

In the match played in Karachi, Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and elected to field first, putting Quetta Gladiators under early pressure. Batting first, Quetta managed to post 154 runs in their allotted 20 overs before being bowled out.

For Quetta Gladiators, Hasan Nawaz was the top scorer with 37 runs, while Rilee Rossouw contributed 26 runs. Khawaja Nafay added 20 runs, and captain Saud Shakeel scored 16 runs. However, the team struggled to build long partnerships and lost wickets at regular intervals.

Peshawar Zalmi’s bowling attack was effective throughout the innings, with Sufiyan Muqeem and Mohammad Basit taking three wickets each, restricting Quetta from posting a more competitive total.

In response, Zalmi chased down the target of 155 runs comfortably, reaching the total with nine balls to spare. Captain Babar Azam led from the front with a composed and unbeaten 71-run knock, anchoring the innings with confidence and control.

Mohammad Haris contributed 35 runs, while Kusal Mendis added 21 runs and Aaron Hardie scored 18 runs, supporting the chase effectively and ensuring a smooth finish for the team.

With this win, Peshawar Zalmi registered their sixth victory in the tournament and remain unbeaten in the competition so far. They now sit at the top of the PSL 11 points table with 13 points from seven matches, including one abandoned game due to rain.

Quetta Gladiators, on the other hand, continue to struggle with only two wins and are placed fifth on the table as the tournament progresses.
