Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has reaffirmed Pakistan’s nuclear deterrent, stating that any adversary would think ten times before launching an attack against the country.
Addressing a public event in Lahore amid rising tensions on the Pakistan-India border, the Chief Minister assured the nation that there is no need for panic, as the Pakistan Armed Forces are fully capable of defending against any aggression.
“There is tension on the border, but the armed forces are strong, capable, and ready,” she said. “This is a time for national unity. We must set aside our differences and stand firmly with our military.”
Maryam Nawaz emphasized that Pakistan’s nuclear capability acts as a powerful deterrent against hostile actions. “The enemy knows we are a nuclear power—attacking us is not a decision they can take lightly,” she stated, highlighting the pivotal role of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in making Pakistan a nuclear state.
Her remarks came amid reports that the Indian government has authorized its military to respond to the recent Pahalgam incident, which India blames on Pakistan—a charge Islamabad firmly denies.
Beyond security, Maryam Nawaz also spoke about governance, saying the Punjab government is actively delivering services to citizens, and that while all provinces have resources, it is “sincere intent” that drives Punjab’s exceptional progress.
Her statements reflect a broader call for unity and resilience as Pakistan faces growing regional tensions.
