ISLAMABAD (The COW News Digital) Capital authorities have initiated high-level security measures to block the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Islami (PTI) scheduled long march to Islamabad, ordering the excavation of trenches, construction of bunkers, and heavy reinforcement of shipping containers placed along key entry points.
Under the security plan, law enforcement agencies have deployed dozens of laborers across major access routes and the outskirts of the Red Zone to fill thousands of shipping containers with sandbags. A total target of filling two hundred thousand sandbags has been assigned to create heavy barricades, while earth-moving machinery has been mobilized to dig deep trenches across key points, including 26 Number Chungi, Pirwadhai, and I.J. Principal Road.
The administrative lockdown comes ahead of PTI’s call for a nationwide march set for September 27. In response, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi warned that the government will strictly prevent any attempt to seal off the federal capital or breach court orders.
Naqvi emphasized that the Islamabad High Court has restricted unauthorized political assemblies, cautioning that law enforcement agencies have received explicit instructions to block advancing rallies and initiate contempt proceedings against violators.
Capital and Rawalpindi police officials have been instructed to maintain heavy security equipment and personnel around critical infrastructure to ensure all transport connections between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the capital remain secured.
